Machine type unknown and One or more Interfaces are in an Unknown state.

Question

We are having "Machine type unknown" and "One or more Interfaces are in an Unknown state" messages on some of our HP Proliant servers (DL380 G4 and G5 series) running Windows 2003 SP2

We have similar HP Proliant servers with  same Orion configuration,  OS and apps in the same network and they are working fine.

Please any one with ideas on how to resolve this problem?

Ok,

that's why you don't see name of device, but regading unknown device type do you use windows snmp agent, net-snmp or any other? And what returns sysObjectID (1.3.6.1.2.1.1.2) ? Lastly, what version of NPM do you use?

I'll check our database if your device type is presents.

We have queried the sysName as you indicated and got no result (no host name)

We did similar query on one of the working servers and the result is the server's hostname

Hi genesys,

Can you try to query sysName (OID 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.5.0) and provide us result. We use this OID to get machine name.
