Database Maintenance Issues

I was wondering if anyone else was having issues with the Database Maintenance since adding the SNMP Trap receiver? Ever since we upgraded, our Database Maintenance does not complete causing the SQL Server to become very slow.

I have tried to run the maintenance on my own, but the logs show it hanging on the "Deleting all Application Performance statistics without a parent Node" state. After anywhere from 3 to 7 hours, I get "The Error Message was Time-out occurred while waiting for buffer latch type 2 for page (1:1514308), database ID 8." in the maintenance log.

We haven't had any problems with database maintenance, but I can't get the trap receiver to send emails. It performs other actions, but for some reason, I can get email to work.
