If you are running the following IOS levels:
12.1(7)M, 12.0(28)S, 12.2(18)SXF2, 12.2(18)SXF3, 12.2(18)SXF4, 12.2SX, (also reported by a customer in 12.2(33)SXI3)
there is a serious bug you should be aware of in IOS that causes a system crash when an IP SLA operation is added via SNMP. Below are the details.
Symptom:
IOS crashes when SNMP is used to activate an IP SLA Probe.
(CISCO-RTTMON-MIB)
Condition:
SNMP set request on rttMonCtrlAdminStatus. Network Management software uses SNMP set requests to create IP SLA probes.
Workaround:
Create a view and apply it to any ReadWrite communities. Example:
snmp-server view fixCSCsd36155 iso included
snmp-server view fixCSCsd36155 ciscoRttMonMIB excluded
snmp-server view fixCSCsd36155 1.3.6.1.6.3.15 excluded
snmp-server view fixCSCsd36155 1.3.6.1.6.3.16 excluded
snmp-server view fixCSCsd36155 1.3.6.1.6.3.18 excluded
snmp-server community private view fixCSCsd36155 RW
Replace "private" with read-write community.
Notice USM, VACM, and Community MIBs will need to be removed. USM, VACM and
Community MIBs are only removed by default in user created views starting with 12.3(4)T
