Memory leak - NPM 9.5 SP3?

I got calls this weekend that the Orion server was not accessible - I could not RDP into the box and the web interface was not accessible.

Our Orion is run from a virtual (ESX) and the database is still on the old physical server (long story).

My server people told me that 97% of the physical memory was taken up.

Anyway, has anyone seen this?

I am having the same issue and I am on sp4.

All will run fine for a week plus or minus 2 days and then the memory will spike and I have to reboot the server. Sometimes that does not work and I know it does not because I cannot get into the management Gui interface on the server. I then have to reinstall sp4 and all is ok for another week or so.

When you are noticing the high memory usage, how much is being consumed by the Solarwinds.BusinessLayerHost.exe service (observable in the Windows Task Manager)? If that is the culprit, see the thread I started here:

They are looking into it. If that service is not the issue, then please tell us what service(s) are consuming the most memory.

*edit* I just noticed lhoyle's picture of the services. Are you showing all processes there? Adding up all the numbers doesn't come close to the 4 GB of RAM it looks like you have installed?

My biggest culprit is one of the two instances of SQL server. (Express that comes with NPM)

SQL is a red herring for memory issues. SQL server will take up all of the memory on a server unless you change the configuration to limit it.
