3 Panel View, 1 at top 2 below?

folks,

is it possible to have a 3 pane view with a single column at the top for displaying a map that spreads over 2 or 3 coloumns below it, is it possible? Instead at the moment we have a single column summary page due to the size of the map above and it looks crap!

I think I've accomplished what you are trying to do using Iframes.

I honestly haven't considered any ways to optimize this since I wasn't trying to do this on many different views. The process itself is slightly cumbersome and definitely feels far too complicated than it should be - but this is what I did.

An IFrame is essentially a way to insert an HTLM element independent of the main HTML document. That's the best way I know to describe it.

The first step is to get a hold of the links for the resources you would want to appear as several columns on a one column view config. Obviously you can just click the link in the resource header and it takes you to that page. Just copy and paste that link and any other links to a separate notepad or something. After you get the links you want you can write the HTML with the IFrame config within a table to create the columns you'd want.

Example:

You'd have to play with the height and width to make it work for your resource dimensions.

At that point you can go to C:\Inetpub\SolarWinds\NetPerfMon\Resources\9-1-Miscellaneous. The simplest way to do it is to copy "UserHTML.Resource" and rename it to something else like "65-Columns.Resource". You can open that file in notepad to perform some edits, but there's really not much on the inside to pay attention to except you might just change the Title= to "Columns" or something.

When you are editing your view just add the resource you just created. It will appear under Miscellaneous named whatever you named it and at that point just add it and preview the webpage. Edit this resource, which is basically the same as the HTML resource. Paste the HTML you created previously and hit okay. With a little finagling you can get the columns to match up perfectly.

At this point you could go back in to the this resource and delete the line "DOResourceHeader" which will kill that bar that shows the title. From there it should look exactly like my example. That's all I did.
