Unknown Device, MIB already there

Question

I've uploaded the MIB for Floodgate VOD devices through support, downloaded and installed the updated MIB DB, verified that the MIB is available in Orion through the MIB viewer, and removed and re-added a Floodgate device.  It shows up in Orion as Vendor "Unknown" (not [Unknown], that's different!).  If I go to the node details page, it shows Machine Type "Agent++" and description "VPIAGENT v3.5.29 agent," and it cannot list any resources/interfaces to get information on.

Any suggestions as to how to get this device to work properly?  I believe I can use the UnDP to poll for this information but I'd like to avoid that if I can, and that won't solve the fact that it still shows up as an Unkown device.

That's fine if that's the case, as far as pulling interface statistics.

I'd still be interested if there is a way to get it to show up as something other than "Unknown."

To my knowledge, just because something is in the MIB DB, doesn't mean NPM is goint to start gathering stats and create tests and alerts.  There are many devices in their already and many useful things for a CISCO that are not "canned feature".  You will need to create custom pollers.

There are systems that will do it automagically, but you will pay at least 15 times what NPM costs to get going.
