Windows Authentication

Hi All,

I am very new to this so please bare with me.

I have set up a few transactions via the recorder with no issue (mainly the websites in question require a log in that appears on the actual website itself.

I want to monitor a website that requires a windows authentication box, when using the recorder it is able to run through the recording with no issue, however once enabled in the orion monitor it always fails on the first step and states failed to authenticate.

Any ideas

It is as if it doesn't actually attempt to authenticate.

Hello Mike,

just to confirm, did windows authentication dialog appear during recording? Do you have "Authenticate" action present in your recording? Can you provide list of steps and actions as you can see it in recorder when you open recording? Screenshot would be sufficient.

Jiri is correct. It sounds like you performed the recording from your workstation where you have pass-through authentication enabled. What we believe occurred is during the recording your workstation credentials were automatically passed through to the web server and not captured by the SeUM Recorder. The easiest way to eliminate this as the potential cause of the issue is to perform the recording logged in to a machine using a local account, not a domain account. The other option is to disable Windows Integrated Authentication in your Internet Explorer browser settings before creating the recording. This may or may not help but wanted to share. I had a slightly similar issue accessing our domain SharePoint site which uses Windows Authentication.
