Feature Request - Supress False Alerts

Whenever we restart the Orion service (either a server restart or when the services automatically restart when patching Orion) a number of fake alerts are always generated and e-mailed out. I'm told from support that:

"I apologize this is happening, but it is due to Orion losing connection to the devices it is monitoring which causes the fake alerts to be triggered. "

As a feature request I'd like either to A) figure out how to stop this from occuring, or add the ability to suppress all alerts for X minutes after a reboot/services restart/automated patch is run.

Does this occur when anyone else patches?

You're not alone.. It happens to me occasionally when I reboot the server or install patches that force the restart of the Orion services. I've noticed the problem is reserved to basic alerts only. Advanced alerts don't seem to have this problem. Since I believe the long term strategy from Solarwinds is to depreciate the basic alerts and have users migrate exclusively to advanced alerts, I can't imagine this problem is very high on the priority list.

It's interesting that you say that it's only for basic alerts in your setup. All of our node-down alerts are configured using the advanced engine, and still having the problems. Seems to favour devices in some specific geographic locations as well (strange as that is).

You may want to consider disabling baseline calculation at startup. In System Manager click "File" - "Advanced Settings".
