link to an external html doc using User defined Links

Hi

Is there a way to use the 'user defined links' tool to launch a html file saved on the Orion Application server? I have set up the 'user defined links' and included the path directory to the file including the file name. Yet when I click on the created link in my browser nothing happens.

The html document is valid and if I manually open it (double click it) I can open it. 

I obtained the address of the document from the Address bar in the browser when I open the document manually.

Do I need to put the file in a specific root folder? i.e. Inetpub or some folder within

I have tried including the server name and domain in the address of the file I have moved the html document to various folders on various drives on the server.

Is this possible, is there something I am missing?

Yes. copy your file under the root folder of your Orion website. By default C:\InetPub\SolarWinds .

Create subfolders if needed.

Modify your User Defined Links as per the above changes.

IIS will allow web browser to access files located exclusively under websites root folder if permissions are met.
