Hi, We have a mixture of Riello and Eaton UPS's and want to monitor battery states etc.
I've never created a custom poller so how do I add all the oid's that I need ?
How do I get graphical views incuded ?
Is this even possible ?
Regards
Scott
Are you looking for something like this?
Yup - Almost exactly what we are looking for !
Hi Scott, apologies for the delay.
I read elsewhere that you cannot use Universal Device Pollers due to the version of NPM you are running.
The above chart was created using Universal Device Poller. If my assumption is wrong then this is what i did to get mine work, albeit our UPS's are different models, but the principal should be the same.
1. Run snmpwalk on the device you want to monitor, supplying the correct snmp polling method and relevant snmp community string. This will list all of the OID's that are available for your device, something like below.
2. Open up Universal Device Poller on your Orion Application Server and take the option to create a new poller. Insert part of the OID listed from the snmpwalk command and select the browse tab. This will allow you to browse the tree to see what the values are. See screenshot below, fill in the values as required and click on next (I know the screenshot says finish, but it will say next when setting up a new one.
3. From the next screen, this will allow you to select what devices you want to apply this poller to, and will give you the option to 'test' to see what values are returned for the OID.
4. Once satisfied with the results click on next (I know it says finished) and this will take you to the final screen where you can have various options of how this is displayed on your nodes page. Select what you want and then click finish.
5. Go to your Node device page and wait for next Poll to see what results are returned. If you wish to change how things are displayed, if you right click on your created poller in the Universal Device Poller application you have the option to select Web Display and this will bring up the last picture again for changing.
6. Repeat the process to create as many custom OID's as you require.
Any problems drop me a message.
Thats mighty - thanks very much, however (dont ya just hate the howevers!).
How do I now display the information , I dont get the ability to add a table view so have added them as charts and or radial gauges but they don't display correctly.
How do I get it to display degree's celcius for example ?
Just want this to green for good or red for bad etc
This should show volts
This minutes etc
Cannot find any information on how to change gauge legends etc
I mean I am assuming all this is actually possible of course
