Automate or Schedule unloading the COM+ Application?

Since upgrading to 8.5.1 SP3, we have to unload the COM+ Application (via Orion Service Manager) 2-3 times per day. Maps stop displaying, charts don't display, and other odd things are resolved immediately by unloading the COM app. Until we can get a fix, I'd like to schedule unloading the COM app every 6-8 hrs.

Obviously the button on the Service Manager does it, but is there a way to translate this to a batch file or scheduled task?

net stop <service display name>

net start <service display name>

You will need to determine what the com+ service name is.

Thanks for the reply. That would stop the NetPerfMon service, but I just want to unload the COM app, not restart the service. The service takes forever to stop on its own (usually have to kill it in Task Manager), so I'm not sure that would work anyway. I'd just like to insert whatever action that clicking the "unload" button does into a batch file or scheduled task.

Do you notice memory increase in dllhost.exe - if so, there are a few threads kicking around regarding this issue ()

We have had a problem open with support since mid-Jan, but no joy as yet.

We also manually unload the COM app (which restarts dllhost.exe) - I also would love a way to do this via a schedule.

To make matters even more fun, it seems as if the VoIP v2 service also has a memory issue in our implementation - another support ticket submitted today.

I am experiancing the same problem aprox every 2 days and find it very annoying

Looking around then net, I found a VB script solution at the following url

This solution stops all COM+ instances so would need modding to only stop the Orion module. The problem is that I never got it working as it returns the following error

C:\MTXSTOP.VBS(18, 65) Microsoft VBScript compilation error: Syntax error

As I don't normally use VB Scripts, I converted the code into an autoit script

To run this code you have 2 options

1) download autotit then run the above script

To do this you will need to

a) Have a basic knowledge of Auoit

b) install autoit

c) save the above code to a filenname with an extension of .au3

d) double click the .au3 file to run it

e) schedule the file to run every x hrs

2) download and run the compiled version from the following temporary location
(I will leave the file there for at least 1 week)

No Auotit knowledge required. Just unzip and run the exe file.

If it works, then schedule it to run every x hours to suit
