Orion NPM v7.8 Beta

Orion NPM v7.8 is ready for beta testing. This version includes several updates/fixes as well as:

* improved system manager with much faster loading/operation
* network wide summary charts in system manager
* node type-specific detail views on web
* support for new Orion management packs

We're hoping to release this updated version very quickly and the more people that run the beta the better. You can download the 7.8 SLX from:

Works great except that now reports can't use custom added fields under nodes

A really awesome feature to include in these updates would be the Report Writer Time/Date Exclusions. It's a real pain in the a** to have to keep re-applying these customizations with each upgrade.

Be patient. If you have a large Syslog table. Adding the FirstIP column may take a couple of hours. Yes hours. Not much that can be done around it, it is just a big SQL I/O opperation that only has to be done once.

The Update to 7.8 will help this in the future. Earlier version of the Syslog Service may not have been keeping up with trimming the end of the syslog table. Based on customer feedback, the default was raised from 1000 messages per minute to 4000 messages per minute. This will help syslog keep up.

You need to add the custom fields you created in Custom Property Editor to the Report Writer app. See this post on how to do this:

Hey BB, you can edit the menu option on the right click menu by editing the "<Drive>:\Program Files\Solarwinds\Common\SWToolset.MenuOptions" File with an XML Editor.

Format of a menu item is fairly clear to understand... I use putty for SSH and use the command line "<path>\putty.exe -SSH ${TARGET}"

Bryan,

You need to look on the client machine for this file, not the server. It seems that this is a "per user, as needed" solution.
