I am running Orion 8.5.1 and for the longest time I have used the Basic alert for my reboots. All my other alerts are setup in the advanced alert engine. Now that we are adding equipment all the time, it is a pain to go into the basic alert configuration and keep adding stuff.
So I created an advanced alert that has the condition Last Boot has changed and its checked every 15 seconds. It works and is alerting us whenever we have a reboot, but occasionally we are getting duplicate alerts for the same reboot.
For example, we had 17 reboots over the course of this weekend. But we recieved 23 emails. We had six alerts send duplicates. I added in the alert triggered variable into all the alerts and when we recieve a duplicate, its always 15 to 25 seconds after the first one. So the first alert will say Alert Triggered at 10/19/2008 8:35:29 AM and the second alert will say Alert Triggered at 10/19/2008 8:35:44 AM.
Has anyone else experienced this issue? It seems wierd that is only happens sometimes. I can restart SNMP on a server 5 times in a row and only get the duplicate message to happen once out of the five times.
