Exclude events from certain device/computer/server

Hi,

is there any way to let a server be managed and included in the collection of stats but be avoided not alrted by events? Since there are some servers/computers that are used for laboration purposes which should not give a red alert on summary whenever it goes down, but stats collections is still wanted for traffic followup

Yes. You could associate a custom property to each node--e.g., "Production" or "Development". Then modify your alerts to include "production" as part of the trigger.

Watch this tutorial. It uses this very example.

That is how I have my system setup. I have both Cisco devices that I want Events on as well as Data Collection and then Servers that I only want Data Collection.

In the Custom Property Editor, create a column for those devices that you want Events. After you have selected all the Nodes that you want Events on, open Account Limitation Builder and add that category to the possible selections. Then in the Admin portion of the Web, you will have to add a Limitation to each user that will be monitoring the Events.

However, the downside is this... There is a glitch in 8.5 where the Account Limitation Builder is not working with the website. They are working on a HotFix. I was told that would be out by the end of this week, but only one more day to go, so hopefully really soon.

We are working on a hotfix (which is giving a bit of grief, which is why it's not out yet), but there is no fix for account limitation builder in that hotfix.

Account limitations are generally working on the website. Now you may have found a specific bug, but I need some details on what problem you're having.

I am actually working with Chance on this. He has ticket 17452 open to address my Account Limitation Builder.

OK I had a look at this solution the other day but its not doing what I want if I am not misstaken. I want to have all computers collected for info all 24/7/365 But I also want to omit event reports from some of them, but still want to have all of them visible form the same user on the webadministrationgui. Is that possible?

Also what I miss more is a clientless solution to handle eventlogs from different systems. IE some simple thing like: Collect, archive and give feedback on per system/category or service based on preference. I see some syslog settings but do not know what it is used for except for linux/unix systems?
