Errors since upgrade to v8

Since upgrading to v8 I am getting errors in the Event logs and on the web view in the Events section. The error on the Web page is:

"Error opening MainTaskDataReader Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding"

In the event logs I am seeing:

The threading model of the component specified in the registry is inconsistent with the registration database. The faulty component is: CLSID = {06A69A88-A377-4E1C-BB81-6AF7E73CB3C4}, ProgID = OrionNPMWeb.CustomPollers

Error Code = 0x8004e028 : The components threading model has changed after install into a COM+ Application. Please re-install component.

Orion is running on a virtual machine with a backend physical SQL 2000 database. Support wants me to change a timeout value in the C:Drive / Program Files / SolarWinds / Orion Network Performance Monitor / SWNetPerfMon.cfg file. However, this file does not exist on the server. I cannot get anyone from support to call me back after three days of emails and voicemails.

Can anyone here offer any advice???

Did you upgrade from 7 to 8, from 8.0.0 to 8.0.1, or from 7 to 8.0.1. There was a minor change to the threading model and it sounds like your old registry settings are being picked up by the new installation. When you talk to support ask them to compare the registry settings of a fresh install to your registry. Alternatively you can uninstall and reinstall.

The MainTaskDataReader event is just informing you that a DB timeout has occurred. This could happen for many reasons and should not be a concern unless the application is not performing as expected.

I upgraded from 7 to 8.0 and then to 8.0.1. The errors started occuring after the upgrade from 7 to 8. However I did uninstall v7 before installing v8.

Everything seems to perform ok, but my event logs are flooded with these errors as is the Web interface to Orion. I'd like to get rid of them.

The errors are being generated by the SolarWinds +Com web application, so I would run the config wizard this might fix the problem by creating the +com application again

I have the same problem but I think it was because when I first install the upgrade I made it from the console and then I came to my computer and use remote desktop to connect to the Orion server while the wizard was still running. Then the wizard appears again in my remote session and I run it again, in that way the error in the event viewer disappears.

You will see this immediately after upgrading from 8.0 to 8.0.1 (there will be 10 or so entries in the event log all from the same time). You should never see it again however. Are you continuing to see this?

I am no longer seeing the COM+ errors, however the DB timeouts are still occurring and filling my event logs up. I still have not gotten a call back from support. This problem only started after the upgrade.

Was there a resolution to this issue? I'm seeing the following:

Although I did not upgrade the SolarWinds installation, few days ago it started to give these errors on the first page under Last 25 Events:

			So far it seems that the Solarwinds server performs well, but I'm not sure what is with these errors. Thank you

This is a known bug, and it will be fixed in Service Pack 3, which is due out in the next couple of weeks.
