How to give view of all nodes, but node management of only some from same account

Hello,

We have departments that need to be able to modify their nodes, but we need them to be able to see other nodes but not be able to modify those nodes. How can this be done? Everything seems to be an all or nothing from what I can find so far.

Mark, isnt this only to restrict views?

I think hjarriell wants them to see their own nodes as well as other nodes but only be able to modify "their own" nodes. (this, as far as I know, is currently not possible)

I think this would be a great feature, even though I probably wouldn't use it much...
