Uptime Error

We have some nodes in our network that report their uptime as 0

Because of this Orion thinks the device has rebooted, so in the event summary for that node, the last 24 hours it has reported that it has rebooted 1400 times.

Does anyone know a way to get Orion to stop reporting this node as rebooted?

Orion monitors a MIB called RFC1213:SysUptime for reboots. If this counter is reset to 0 or counts backwards, it will trigger a reboot. This can also be caused when the SNMP agent is restarted. This is a common issue in Linux servers running Net-SNMP - if you're seeing this on primarily Linux/Unix/Mac OS devices, make sure you're running the latest version of Net-SNMP. If you see it happening primarily on Windows servers, try uninstalling/reinstalling the SNMP agent in the Windows server.

I am seeing it in one of our point to point wireless radios.

About half the devices work fine, and the other half they are all stuck at 0. I realize that this is a bug with the vendor, but i was wondering if I could get Orion to just ignore the sysuptime value?

Event log is clogged with noise from these false reports

There's no setting to turn that off. The only solution I can think of would be some sort of automated query to delete those events from the database frequently.

I am seeing it in one of our point to point wireless radios.

Compare the firmware versions on the radios. I suspect the radios reporting a zero value are running a different version than the radios reporting good values.
