Acknowledge Alert URL

Is there a way to customize an automated acknowledge URL? I currently use a Juniper SA VPN as the frontend to my internal network, and we all know the alerts we want to acknowledge quickly are those that occur at 2AM when I'm not within my internal network(I'm at home, sleeping!). In this case the ack URL is useless as I have to VPN in first to get to that, which my lovely Android phone doesn't support in Juniper yet.

Long and short, can we customize the URL it sends to add the necessary VPN information so our concentrator recognizes and passes through?

Is it possible to pass the servers ip rather than hostname in ${AcknowledgeURL} and ${APM:ApplicationDetailsURL}?

I have a similar issue to the OP along with screwy DNS.

I am on apm 4.2 RC2 if that matters

Until SolarWinds fulfills your request, one option you have would be to manually recreate the AcknowledgeURL.

For node alerts, it would be:

host.solarwindsserver.com/.../AckAlert.aspx

For interface alerts, it would be:

host.solarwindsserver.com/.../AckAlert.aspx

For volume alerts, it would be:

host.solarwindsserver.com/.../AckAlert.aspx

For [AlertDefID], you'll need to replace that with an SQL query that provides the correct AlertDefID. Here's an example of one that should work:

${SQL:select alertdefid from alertdefinitions where alertname='${AlertName}'}

The only catch is that in order for the SQL query to work, the alert message will need to be in plain text. There's some sort of known bug with the way the alert engine parses the variables in HTML messages that causes problems.

For this reason, the error message isn't going to look as nice in plain text but at least you'll have a working AcknowledgeURL.

Can't you just create add the Webpages to your Juniper portal? You don't have to VPN in to the SA to get it to rewrite the orion page. Not sure about android but I had all of our Solarwinds pages available on our SA at my last job...I could manage any of them from my iPad without ever having to actually do the netconnect. Your SA administrator just needs to have a portal page that includes the Orion site as a web resource.

I would be interested in learning if it is possible to modify the ${APM:ApplicationDetailsURL} variable as well. Our installation requires https, so the http that is sent by default results in an invalid page error when the link is clicked. I am going to look into redirection as a work around, but it would be nice if the actual link was sent.

For SSL Sites, you can update the WebSites Table and it should change to HTTPs:

Update Websites set SSLEnabled=1, Port='443'

Thanks for your reply. Would this be done by following the directions at http://knowledgebase.solarwinds.com/kb/questions/1636/How+do+I+configure+the+%24%7BNodeDetailsURL%7D+variable+to+provide+https+URLs%3F ?

If so, I assume that this would also fix the same issue with the ${NodeDetailsURL}?
