I can't seem to find my logs in Solarwinds. Where are they located? I have the evaluation package installed. Please help.
Ah ok, this is the Syslog feature of the Orion Platform (NPM or SAM). If you could send a screenshot of the footer at the bottom that would help determine which exact product (see below). Log & Event Manager is a separate dedicated SIEM product.
I'm sorry for asking the basic question, but have you configured any of the devices to send syslogs? The 2016 server you installed it on doesn't automatically poll the local event log. One option is to install the Event Log Forwarder to Syslog free tool on the Windows server or PC and point it to your NPM install. Also, even if you configured the switch to send syslog, doesn't mean there will be any messages generated in a static lab environment. If you are trying to check if it's working, you can try making a change to the config or logging in multiple times with a bad password to generate failed login messages.
@kange0010 can you please provide more details? You posted this in the Log & Event Manager forum. Are you using that product or something like NPM? If you are using an Orion Platform based product such as Network Performance Monitor or Server & Application Monitor, then the logs can be found in C:\ProgramData\SolarWinds\Logs.
If you are running diagnostics, then a .ZIP will be created with what you need to send to Sales or Support.

where are the debug log files?
If you aren't sure, sending screenshots of the product and / or file directory can usually help us get an answer to you faster.
Thank you for responding. Here is my picture down below. This is what I have in my syslog. I have only 1 server 2016, 1 cisco switch, and 1 end device or PC. Very small lab but why no logs? I made sure in Services that Solarwinds Syslog was running.
mavturner,
I have not configured any of the devices to send syslogs. How and where would I go about doing that? I know you stated that this is basic but these are my beginning steps dealing with Solarwinds and SNMP. I will also send you the screenshot when I have the chance. Thank you in advance.
