When we migrated to Microsoft Exchange server 2003, my basic alerts stopped functioning for the text messaging to PDAs/handhelds - the e-mail notifications still work - any ideas why the text messaging to PDAs would stop working?
Thanks
How do you send your text messages? Can you give some more information?
I believe we use SNMP traps since I see the SNMP server IP address set up in the alert action section
Well, even with SNMP traps, you should be able to send text messages via email to your PDA's. Here are the formats for the major providers:
T-Mobile: phonenumber@tmomail.netVirgin Mobile: phonenumber@vmobl.comCingular: phonenumber@cingularme.comSprint: phonenumber@messaging.sprintpcs.comVerizon: phonenumber@vtext.comNextel: phonenumber@messaging.nextel.com
Naturally, replace "phonenumber" with the 10-digit telephone number of the device. I don't really know if this is your problem, but we use this same method with Exchange 2003, and have no problems.
Thanks - but the phonenumber@vtext.com is precisely what stopped working and when it exists in an alert that also contains e-mail addresses, it prevents the e-mail nitifications from working also.
