How do I add custom property to Interfaces

Hello All,

This is my first question into this forum. I have a requirement to add custom properties to interface ? Can I do that?

Can I extend the custom properties of a node to that of interface?

If I cant add custom property to an interface, how do they will appear in the GUI when I have set account limitation based on a custom property defined for a node?

Yes, you can put custom properties on an interface. The easiest way is to go to the server, into Start > All Programs > SolarWinds Orion > Grouping and Access Control and open the Custom Property editor. From there, create the property, but change the property from Node to Interface in the creation dialogue. Once the property or properties are created, you can use either the Custom Property Editor to populate values or the website.

My trial version had expired and hence the interface settings were missing from the custom property editor.

Is there a known issue where certain interface custom properties are visible to Alert Manager and others are not? Despite updating the schema, my two most recent custom properties are not visible to the Alert Suppression tab of the Alert Manager. NPM version 10.2.2.

There are know known issues along those lines. As long as the properties are created and the schemas are updated, then they should be visible in both the Report Writer and Advanced Alert Manager.

My Report Writer shows all of my interface custom properties while my Advanced Alert Manager does not show the two newest ones. I'll post the support case number if I create a ticket on this issue.

If you are missing custom properties in the Advanced Alert Manager, or you see only the word "custom" instead of listing the properties, you might try disabling the UAC in addition to updating the report schema in the CPE. See if that works.
