I'm looking for a quick easy way to get an alert sent after a supervisor card switches redundancy. I'm not finding a simple way to do this, but I'm also a SW noob.
Thanks,
I would look to see if you can generate a SNMP trap from the device if it does that. Then create an alert based on that.
If that isn't an option you'd have to see if there was a SNMP OID that could be polled to watch for that.
With vendor documentation or perhaps with an SNMPwalk, you could follow up on chad.every's suggestion (polling involved OID). Just need to find the relevant OID.
If your search 'active standby switchover SNMP' along with the name of the platform, are you finding any matches via search engines?
Which model are you asking about?
Assuming you are sending syslogs and/or SNMP traps to your NPM, the quickest way is going to be an alert on the message you get.

I use this option, works well.
