How much horsepower is your Orion App server running?

I started having a few issues with my Orion app server and just checking to see what others are running to see if maybe its a resource thing.

Started having hiccups last week when we started adding 70 Linux nodes via agent last week and that kind of coincides with some of the other issues. Server stopped functioning on Saturday afternoon and in VMWare the CPU use has been going up for for a year so this morning added 4 more CPUs this morning since the system was frozen. They are all running one VMWare and running on Cisco UCS and Nimble SANs.

How many nodes and agents total?

704 nodes and 80 Agents and a bulk of the agents are Linux nodes.

Wow, we have 1200 and have way less resources.

I have come to realize that Orion is a massive beast, in many ways unwieldy for ALL of the MANY moving pieces and parts that can break. There is so much going on that its difficult to narrow down causes of people's woes and bugs.

I'm fighting an Unknown node issue now that is happening with Re-managing nodes. I can't put anything in Unmanaged mode without it going Unknown.

How does one possibly troubleshoot that?

Service restart, I know. But my point is Orion is so deep with so many different technologies bumping eachother that its difficult to troubleshoot the stupidest little things like this.

Agreed. And it gets to be more fun when you open a high priority ticket in the morning when this happens and 5 hours later NO ONE from Solarwinds support has reached out....

It looks like the BusinessLayer is the problem here. The past two crashes have started happening after I see the business layer have an error in my event viewer. Things go up and down for a few hours until it finally stops working.
