Status does not change from warning to down

Question

I setup alerting to notify me when a node is down. I configured the advanced settings to change the node status from warning to down if the node does not respond within 3 seconds. I reboot the node and Orion immediately changes the status to warning. The system takes 3 minutes to reboot before pinging again and the orion website status is still set to warning. I am constantly refreshing the page and the status does not change. Since the status does not change I do not get an email.

Is there more than one place I need to go to configure those settings? At this point the tool isn't very useful since a system can be rebooted and I never know about it.

To test and see how long a system would remain in warning state I turned off a managed node and 5 minutes later Orion changed the status to down and I got an email.

I am polling the interfaces on all nodes every 10 seconds. I'd go lower than that if it would let me.

I have had the same problem. I just set the alert trigger to Warning or Down instead of just down, then modified the e-mail message to day node or interface = DOWN.

I can't explain why the node status never changes to down. Another couple of way to test this would be to update the hosts file on the poller or to pull the network cable on the node.
