Hi all!
I've well installed Orion NPM on my computer and I did my network discovery
I discover devices and imported them in the orion data base. But I note that only my avaya IP phones are well grouped (avaya); the other devices are grouped as unknown. So in the network inventory, I can see only the IP addresses of devices and no more information about them.
For example I have Cisco devices and Wireless access point on my network, but when I go in inventory on reports and search for information about them I do not see anything, like I have no Cisco devices on my network. Same thing with all disk volumes and devices type.
I want to be able to locate each device in network in order to monitor it.
My computer (where solarwinds is installed) is in a workgroup not a domain, has windows server 2003 SP2 installed. I have only one network Ip address range, one subnet and devices like switches, routers and wirelless access point.
I will be pleased to get answer to the following question:
What and where exactly can I find monitoring info provided by solarwinds? (For me It looks like monitoring informations are located in events).
Do we have information the Network performance?
On network equipment state? On network equipment Performance?
What about information on the traffic?
Can we get any information on the top bandwidth consumption?
Equipments that are functioning well?
Any report on how much packet sent out?
…etc
I know these informations can be available with solarwinds, but I would like to know how to go through a specific monitoring information and get it in the right way.
I would like you to help me solve the problem of unknow devices (what manipulation I should do), to be able to have information about all my specific devices, about the disk volume, how to monitor dayly a specific device like a router or a linux gateway.
I'm testing solarwinds on my own network before going out to run it on my costumer's system.
thanks a lot for your help
Regards
