Down Orion Server

Does Orion the company or software offer a way to detect if the server that Orion is sitting on is down or not? Any suggestion to get around this issue if they do not offer one?

well, there is a user submitted script somewhere that checks the status of orion and alerts if it or the database is down...

then there is the hot standby engine of Orion NPM which I havent installed yet but it should alarm if the server is down... I am not positive if it alarms when the services are down and it took over the polling...

Remotetly Monitor Orion and SQL

Run these vbscripts on another server to monitor the Orion Server and SQL database:

OrionMonitorUpDown.vbs
This VBS script monitors the ORION server on 3 fronts
PING (Is the server there)
WMI (Can I connect)
Service(s) Status (Are the Orion Services Running)

OrionSQLInstanceUpDown.vbs
This VBS script monitors the ORION SQL server on 4 fronts
PING (Is the server there)
WMI (Can I connect)
Service(s) Status (Is the SQL Service Running)
SQL Query (Can I connect and pull a value)
