Help with initial setup

We have 10 locations with approximately 205 computers. 5 locations are connected via T1/T3 and 5 are connected via site to site VPNs. There are 13 physical servers and a virtual environment with 8 virtual servers on it. We have 16 access points, 9 routers, 12 switches.

Currently we have purchased NTA and NPM with 100 interfaces. As I am going through the initial setup I see that I am at 125 interfaces just trying to add access points, routers, and switches from our main location. Our goal is to be able to monitor the network devices being up or down as well as be able to quickly troubleshoot any major network issues such as a bandwidth hog. Does anyone have a recommendation as to the minimum interface licenses we need and which ones we should be monitoring at least to get things started enough for us to research and learn more about what SolarWinds has to offer?

You're in the right ballpark it sounds like. Just make sure to remove any unnecessary interfaces (loopback,etc.) If you were interested, you could also setup a separate eval instance and monitor "everything" to see what that element count adds up to.

I think rob.hock is right on this. Download a separate eval license, monitor everything and see what it totals, cut out the things you are not interested in, and you should have your element count. You are probably a bit light with 100 element licenses.

don't forget to add some padding, if you can afford to go to a tier above do it, that way as you expand your environment you have room to grow, instead of buying more license after your initial deployment, other wise you will be juggling your licensing
