Orion Stats Issue

Hi there,

I have Orion 7.2.2 adn am having an issue with displaying collected stats.

Orion polls all devices fine (they show up in the Top 25, etc) but when I do a graph of anything for the last few hours, there are not stats available. It looks as if Solarwinds has stopped logging information to the SQL database.

Anyone any ideas?

Check the event log on the Orion Server for database error messages.
You may need to tune the SQL database table sizes. Your tables may be full.

Are these devices routers? Have you changed the interface names on any of them?

We recently had to change the interface names on 45 of our Routers because we moved them to ATM. Orion changed the index number of the interface from 2 to 0 and picked up the renamed interface index number of 2. Thus it stopped polling the interface that it changed the index number to 0, so they look like they are dead and have no stats. We had to do a "List Resources" and select the interface again with the new name and now it records stats. The down side of this is, we have lost all of our stats on those interfaces up to this date.

Wish there was some way to import in all those stats instead of losing them.

We have upgraded several routers recently.
Rather than lose the statistics, I have opted to leave the old interface in the database,
and just live with the unknown interface '?' until the end of the year. Once we have the year end total for the link (old and new interface data combined) I will delete the unknown interface.
Not very eloquent. but it does the job. This would be another case for being able to unmanage an interface.....

I am doing the same thing. We will leave the interface until we feel we have significant reporting on the new interface, probably around 6 months worth, then we will delete it.

Just would have been nice if we could have dumped those stats into the new interface names... but you can't have everything

I'm also running Orion 7.2.2 and I have 2 polling engines and I've noticed that on two occassions that one of the polling engines froze up completely and I had no stats for the devices (servers, routers and switches)polled by that polling engine. The only way to correct it was by restarting the polling engine.

I've talked to support about this and they advised me to upgrade to version 7.4 of Orion.
