Customizing Views

Does anyone know how to add resources to a view that do not exist in the list of resources available for a particular view type?

For example, I would like to add a "Custom HTML or Text" or "Custom Poller Min/Max/Avg Chart" resource to a view derived from "Application Details". However, these resources do not appear to be available for this type of view. In addition, "Application Details" resources are only available for views derived from "Application Details" view type.

In the end, I would like to have a view for an application that I'm monitoring (SQL Server for example) where I have some of the application details resources in addition to some charts of custom MIB's I am polling for (i.e. database locks, user connections, etc...).
