poll time

I have installed Solarwinds Engineer's Edition on one PC and monitoring the links but the problem is that whenever the link is down for 1 min or so, the status of the link shows up in 10 or 11 mins time only. The settings are
Poll interval every 2 mins
Fast poll interval 30 sec, when packets are lost, pls help to resolve the problem
