add custom information to map page
perduenoc
We have just implemented Orion 7.8 and love the flexibility... a breath of fresh air from NNM.
I was wondering if there was a method to add a form (text only)or custom field to the "site" level or map page. For example, we need to have the contact information and other circuit id information related to each site. I don’t want to have to add this information to the 'node' level, but at the 'map' level of the site (say one step up)... See the ligh blue area in the picture below
I would like to keep the information in the database as well (not a label on the map).
Any help would be appreciated

You can use Report Writer to create a custom query of the list of devices on each map along with the contact info & circuit ID and post it in the Area in blue.
It can pull all this info from the DB. Use the Custom Property Editor to add the required fields (or use existing fields) & import the data from a CSV file.
I use this to display the Outage duration for a specific group of nodes over the past 7 days on one of my web pages. Just select "Report from Report Writer" when adding the custom view to the web page.

thanks for the input.
I am having issues w/ the query, any help or advice on that? I cannot seem to find the fields that I have added to the database while trying to build the query (orion gui for the reports painful)
again thanks

I suggest you have Orion Custom Property Editor [CPE] open while building the queries.
It helps to add some custom fields in CPE to make it easier to build your queries.
I created one called "building" which contains the 4 digit alpha-numeric code for each one of our sites.
Then you can create a report which filters on just certain "buildings".
You can do the same thing on your interfaces.
You can sort any field in CPE by clicking on the heading. Click again to reverse sort.
This will show any populated entries first.
