Windows Event Logs to Syslog

I'm running Orion 8 and am trying to find a way to have my Windows DC's (21 of them) send all Event Log errors and warnings to the syslog viewer.

Has anyone ever set up that kind of thing? I found a 3rd party syslog agent that can run on Windows and reformat & send event log entries to a syslog server, but it has no configuration options, so it is currently sending every event that gets logged. I only want to get errors & warnings.

Is syslog the best approach to do this?

I do exactly that - there used to be a program available under Additional Downloads in the customer area called Solarwinds Windows Event Log Forwarder which does exactly what you want to do and sends stuff straight into Orion so you can get everything in one place (great for searching all your server event logs for things!).

I notice that since the web site redesign it has disappeared - maybe you should contact the support guys and find out what happened to it...

The event forwarding to syslog utility is being tested to make sure it behaves well with Orion V8. It as well as other utilities will be available when testing is complete.

I just downloaded it the other day - it's in the customer area, under Additional Components > Windows Event Forwarder
