How does one schedule a daily recurring task to unmanage multiple nodes between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m.?

I have a set of nodes that experience a network outage daily from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. I only want actionable alerts showing up in NPM and my e-mail, therefore I am seeking a way to use the NPM GUI to create a recurring Maintenance Schedule for this set of nodes.

I can use the GUI to schedule ONE node for ONE maintenance window. I don't see how to use the GUI to create a recurring scheduled maintenance for multiple nodes.

I've seen some Discussions in Thwack about how this might be accomplished with scripts in SWQL / SQL, but have not figured out how to get them to work for multiple nodes across recurring dates.

Might you have the key to accomplishing this, either via GUI or via Script?

You need to use the SolarWinds Unmanage Scheduling Utility:

Configure Orion to unmanage items on a scheduled basis - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Support

This is what we use to ignore nodes during their regularly scheduled weekly reboots etc.

Thank you, prawij I've been in there, configured the task, scheduled it, and then cannot find it in the list of existing tasks. Quite the frustrating experience.

I recreated it, built it for the dates/times/durations I need, applied it, and promptly lost it. I'm going to wait until the time when it should be running to find it, since there doesn't seem to be a method of showing scheduled tasks.

I'm a very literal person when it comes to instructions, and those accompanying this utility don't quite cover every step, where to find every thing in a next step. Or so I find; perhaps my challenge is I surrendered SysAdmin status back in 2002, and am no longer familiar with the servers' functionalities.

Are you saving the location of the xml file when you click on Save Task in step 7? You may want to create a specific folder that contains all your unmanage scheduled task xml files. I think it saves it to the clipboard but doesn't hurt to save it to Notepad so you can see it. And then paste it in Step 13 (or navigate to it).

In step 9 - are you giving it the same name as the XML file so it's easy to find?

Once the scheduled task is configured you should be able to find it under "Active Tasks" in the Task Scheduler Summary.

I agree, it should show up in the Active Tasks area. It doesn't. I'm expect it's probably a PIBKAC and that I'll figure it out eventually.
