Auto geolocation in 11.5.2

Greetings all!

Recently upgraded to 11.5.2 from 11.0.1. Really interested in using the worldwide map to show locations of certain devices. The autolocation setting is enabled on the web console settings page. I've tried setting various values in the SNMP location field on some device, including the actual coordinates for lat/long, as well as the address, in the formats listed in other posts here on Thwack. I've verified that I can reach open.mapquestapi.com from my NCM server. I've even tried adding the new custom properties for latitude and longitude and populating those on some nodes. Nothing seems to work, and I'm left with a blank map. Anyone got any other suggestions for making this work?

I have found the process to be somewhat unreliable or inconsistent, but one thing I have done that seems to work more often than not is use the OpenStreetMap website to pinpoint the address. Then, I just copy the address it finds and paste it into the Geocode Options Sample area of the open.mapquestapi.com/geocoding website as you mentioned. I find that if the mapquest website is able to resolve the address to one targeted map that shows the correct qaddress marked, then the World Map will be able to do the same. I will say however, that when I worked extensively with SolarWinds support, even this was not always successful and that SolarWinds admitted that it was not perfect.

Thanks for the info. I guess I'm destined to log a support case for this. Unfortunately, the documentation is limited, so troubleshooting on my part has been limited.

How many devices?

Ultimately, there are several hundred I'd like to have on there. I've tested with four or five so far, and can't get anything to automatically show on the map.
