How is polling completion calculated?

Are down nodes polls counted as failed?

Is it polls not completed on time?

Does it count a poll on device where the OID does not exist as a fail?

etc..

Just trying to figure it out so I can take the the statistics poll interval as low as possible, preferably 1 minute on 2681 polling indexes.

Not what I asked. I would like something more specific to keep the polling as clean as possible before requesting my company spend $$ on resources that may be unnecessary.

So far it is running like a dream with NPM in VM, the 2008 SQL Server in VM, and both using our SAN for storage.

Trying to figure out why polling starts to have some issues, yet the servers show no stress.
