Network topology

I am monitoring a cisco switch and wish to see the network topology resource. I added it under colum 1 and in the preview it is there. However it does not appear on the actual node page. I beleive this could be a combination of two things, no data and "Auto-hide" being enabled. My two questions are

1) How do I disable auto-hide? ---------   I cannot find it anywhere

2) How do I populate the Network Topology information for a node ?
