Installing orion NPM on windows XP

Hi all!

I'm a new user of solarwinds products, I would like to install it on my computer with windows XP and I have a question concerning the web server requirements.

In the documentation, it's recommended to have IIS V6. I want to know if Orion NPM cannot work with a WAMP server, which is more secure than Internet Information Services/Server (IIS).

I guess you could install it on XP but then you have to ask yourself why....

NPM is a pretty heavy app, running it on a workstation even just as a test is not a good idea. If you are doing it as a test it is not a good test.

XP is not a supported platform. Here are the current sys reqs.

I was asking if I can install orion NPM on a WAMP server.

NPM Requires IIS because of it's heavy dependency on .NET framework, ASP.NET and other Microsoft proprietary technologies. There really is no way of using WAMP (Apache/PHP/MySQL) with Orion; with the possible exception of Apache's mod_proxy which others have successfully used as a reverse proxy to NPM.
