Capture Data On a Monitored port on Cisco Switch
kindbro
Hi,
I am running the lastest version of Orion and my switch is a 6513, running a span and would like to monitor it for bandwidth. Since solar winds Orion does not monitor down interfaces for traffic flows it makes it difficult to gather data that I no is taking place.
This port is not down, cisco shows it as up/down (monitoring) which means that it is doing what its suppose to, gather data from all ports on the switch to this destination port. If i run a bandwidth guage against the same port, the guage reflects spikes of data at any where from 300mbps - 800mbps. Has anyone been able to get Orion to gather data from a span port on a cisco switch?
Thanks in advance

From SolarWinds support:
Orion looks at the IFTable (OID 1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2) when checking interfaces and nodes. If the report responds to this as up, Orion can monitor it, if the device reports to this as down, then it shows as down, and all Orion will do is poll it for status. There would be no way to collect the information you are looking for unless the interface were to report as up.
