MIB hell

I am trying to do something that seems fairly simple but getting really really lost.

Some devices we are polling do not have CPU or Memory being polled.

e.g. Cisco ASA 5525-X

So I believe I need to add a universal poller for it.

I look on the Cisco website for the MIB but it is not there.

Other devices I have do have MIBs but when I search for cpu or memory i get nothing. Do the names typically have cpu or memory in them?

Manufacturers websites seem to be particularly unhelpful.

I have tried SNMPwalk but have no idea where the outputs are or if they will be of any use in any case.

Can someone describe the basic way to collect the required information and how I can find out for sure if a device simply doesn't poll these things if that happens to be the case.

If you run a SNMPWalk, do you get any output? Typically we support CPU / Memory for ASAs out of the box. Have we validated SNMP is enabled for the inside interface?

EX: snmp-server host inside 10.1.1.1 community SuperSecretROString

where does the output save by default? I can't see it

When you run the snmpwalk tool (it's in the SolarWinds program folder), once it has completed a 'walk' successfully it will ask you where to save the returned data. If you're not seeing that prompt, I expect your requests are timing out. The tool will tell you if this is the case.
