Hey all, I had my Orion NPM v10.1.2 running on an older HP DL380 G3. I'm running ESXi on an HP DL360 G5 (a whole lot more horsepower and elbow room) so I converted my server to a VM on Friday. Saturday I did some looking to make sure everything was working fine and saw that my "Evaluation" of NPM had expired. I was pleasantly surprised to actually get someone from SolarWinds on the phone and had the problem fixed within about 10 minutes (including hold time). After that everything looked like it was working fine. At least as far as I was able to tell.
Today (Wednesday) I noticed that my Top 10 Nodes by Percent Packet Loss were all at 30%. Every one of them. I checked a little deeper and noticed that my Average Response Time & Packet Loss was empty for all of these machines. I checked some more and I found that ALL of my workstations and servers had quit reporting around 6:00 Saturday evening. I was gone by then and didn't have any maintenance scheduled. I've checked logs on the affected machines, on my newly VM'ed SolarWinds server and on my switches and I don't see ANYTHING at 6:00 on any of them.
I've started going through removing NICs from Orion and then rediscovering the machines. Does anyone have any idea what happened? I'm "assuming" that something changed when I converted my server to a VM but I've never had any problems like this before. Or maybe it's related to the licensing issue but that was corrected early in the afternoon. I'm fairly new to NPM so I don't know if the conversion did something to the configuration setup or something else. If anyone can help me with some suggestions to avoid this in the future I'd be truly grateful!
Thanks,
Joe B
