Map Maker not working

Hi all,
We are running Orion version 8.0.2
My collegue was succesful in running mapmaker and setting up a basic map. I now need to change the map to something more useful but the application refuses to run
I get a dialog box with an OK button and above that the following text
Run-time error '430':
Class does not support Automation or does not support expected interface.
I have tried this from a RDP session to the machine it is installed on and also standing in front of it using the keyboard and screen connected to the server.
Any ideas?
