Automatic login to specific NODEview by NAME
Kaj_Lehtinen
Hi!
Is it possible to display the Nodeview screen using automatic login and by sending the NODENAME on the URL? If so, what is the keyword for the Nodename filter/variable?
I would like to use IE's custom search functionality to write NPM <nodename> to be automticly logged in and see that nodes status in the nodeview page.
Best regards,
Kaj Lehtinen

Go into the Orion Account Manager app and create a username: DirectLink
with no password. Make sure this account has access to view everything in the Web Admin page.
Now you can copy a URL for a node details page into your web browser and view details of just that node. However, this will not actually log you in, so you cannot follow any links on this page.

"Using the DirectLink Account
The presence of the DirectLink account in Orion enables an Orion user to provide a non-Orion user with a hyperlink to a specific Orion web page. Any URL that refers directly to an Orion NPM web page will bypass the login screen logging the user into the DirectLink account. Alternatively a URL that does not directly specify an Orion web page will display the Orion Login page. The DirectLink account is created like any other account and can include custom views and/or account limitations."

Hi!
Thanks for the feedback, but the directlink isnt exactly what I want to do.
Lets say that I have one node named ns4.nmg.se, i would like to use IEs built in customisable search functions (ie. I have it so that I write in IE adressbar 'google orion' and that makes automaticly a search for the word orion in google).
The idea is to enable me to write NPM ns4.nmg.se and directly be logged into the system (using passthrough or other means) to the nodeview page. The question that I have is what URL paramter, if any, should I use to select which node I want to see nodeview on? The nodeview/paramter could ofcourse be any DNS/Nodename in the database.
I know how to do it if I use the NodeID, but thats a number thats hard to remember for each node.

NodeID is the main way Orion access its nodes, which doesn't leave any easy way to view the node.
To do what you need to do would require Orion to have the search function. It's got very little to do with IE actually...just how it fills in the URL it actually sends out.

I don't know if helps. But there is a search node resource that you could add to a page. Then, you just type in what you want to search for and pick the field to search on. It will even handle wild cards.
