i am trying to install an evaluation version of Orion NPM 9.5, but i am getting a message that says it can't register OrionNPMweb.dll file. I searched around and found this KB http://support.solarwinds.com/kbase/ProblemDetail.cfm?ID=1183 which is exactly what should help me. But it didn't. When i run the batch file and the red lines show up i noticed there were 5 or 6 failed ( attempts? ) I have tried version 8.5 and the web console also didn't work. Tried upgrading to 9.1, and there were another error regarding the web site:
"Website configuration failed:
• Web Request for /Orion/Login.aspx failed - The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error."
What does this mean?
When i click finish the web console shows up the following error:
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
Exception Details: System.Collections.Generic.KeyNotFoundException: No Web Setting with name "First Time" found.
Server Error in '/' Application.
No Web Setting with name "First Time" found.
I haven't tried to evaluate newer versions, because if it's a bug in the recent versions ( some engine changes? ) it's pointless.
Also keep in mind i haven't entered any license information, i click cancel on that dialog, is it possible that error comes from this?
My oppinion is that it's some problem with the registry ( as it can't register the dll ) . Also i read something about registry write permissions ( but i am logging as Administrator ) .
I hope someone helps on that, without telling me " open trouble ticket ", because i am not registered user yet.
