NPM is the only pain product server to virtualise out of hours...
I don't have an answer to your question, but we've moved our server and relicensed it through the portal - it was easy and painless. What type of problem are you having or do you foresee?

the problem i am having is that post import (did a standalone conversion to vmserver 2.0, then did a virtual centre import of that image)
after booting up, license check fails but i did not get an opportunity to add the license. nothing loads, and every time i try to start system manager it tried to reinstall...
