How can I write a Custom Property for many nodes? (the same value will be entered)

I have a bunch of nodes that I want to write a certain Custom Property value for, and then set alerts and group them based on these values.

Or, is there a way to create a group of nodes and enter a Custom Property for all of them at once?

You have some options here.  If you wish to add custom properties to a node in NPM, check out this thread.  If you would rather alert based on node groups rather than custom properties, this thread should point you in the right direction.
