How to l imit access to OrionNetPerfMon.exe?

Hi,

I wish to restrict the administration of NPM to only one admin user.

I the web interface that is not a problem i have defined an admin user and user without admi's right.

How to be sure that on the server only a specific local administrator can have access to OrionNetPerfMon.exe ?

That's i think the only other way to have access to the device management of NPM.

I have two local administrator on the server

- administrator

- npmadmin

and i wish that only npmadmin has access to theOrionNetPerfMon.exe.

Hi Marie,

I will provide a service to a customer and be sure he can't access the admin part of NPM.

Hello--

If I understand what you are doing correctly, then the answer is unfortunately, no we don't. There's no login for the System Manager. That's under the purview of Microsoft/Windows adminstration.

Am I understanding you correctly?

That's it. And i was wondering if you have any advice on how to limit the acess to the System Manager either through Solarwinds (that is impossible) or through the Windows administration.

I would just set the security settings on the executable file to only be able to be read by the system and your administrator account. If you really didnt want them accessing it I would set the permissions on the folder level so they wouldn't be able to see anything.

So i need to keep the user SYSTEM and my own admin account on the executable.

Is there any issue when changing permissions to the whole folder ?

Currently I only have the entire Domain admins group and the system on the folder permissions. I don't see why limiting it to one user would cause any serious impact on the program. Just make sure to have the system in there otherwise you will deffinatly have problems in running Orion.
