Assigning tests/alerts to specific devices

Is there a way to specify which devices a test/alert will actually test?  It seems that activating a test/alert makes it test everything with that test.  I've created a custom test that suppresses alerting if the remote router is down, and I only want it to test the devices beyond that specific router.  Instead, it is telling me about the devices here.

Nevermind - I was in Advanced Alerts, and I just found that Basic Alerts are completely different, and more suited to what I'm trying to do.
