Setting up Alerts in NPM to monitor Linux disk space

Hello all

I am trying to figure out how to set up alerts for the available disk space in the / partition of Linux servers in NPM. I tried googling but I was not able to find anything decent.. Currently we have IPMonitor being used for all of the alerting, but I would like to implement it on NPM. Any idea how I should do this?

All help is greatly appreciated!!

I want set up the alert that if the available disk space in / is less than or greater to 10GB, we will get alerted via email

This can definitely be done in NPM.....

First, you need to add those Linux devices to Orion using SNMP or now, a Linux Agent. After you have added the device, ensure you are monitoring the disks in Manage Nodes, and if not, List Resources for them and check box the disks it sees(should find all of them) to start monitoring them. Then, either copy and modify an existing out-of-the-box volume alert or create a new volume alert with the following trigger condition:

"net-snmp" is what SolarWinds calls Linux devices. So this Alert is only trigger on Linux nodes that have volumes that have less than or equal to 10GB.

Then, in the Trigger Action section of the Alert, add an Email Notification. Include useful variables in the Email Message to give you as much information as you want in the message for the volume that triggered the alert(i.e. name of volume, name of node volume is on, actual amount of currently available space, etc.)
