hi all,
please i need to know what means Element,,, for Example:
(((((If you plan to monitor 8000 or more elements )))
is it mean number of switches and routers ; number of devices as a Node?
please help as possible,
thanks
An element is either a node, interface or volume. So, a switch with 48 ports, a CPU and RAM would be counted as 51 elements if all of those elements are monitored.
I've always thought it meant the number of pollers you have per minute. i.e. 10 nodes with 9 interfaces each (100 poll objects) each being polled one time a min => 100 elements
I could be wrong...SW?
Borgan is correct; however when you are figuring capacity I was told that you also need to take your UnDP's into account as well. I was told to use the right-hand number of the Statistic Polling Index on the Polling Engine page when figuring maximum capacity for a polling engine.
Agreed, byrona. If, for example, one has 6000 elements, the number of pollers will actually be higher (perhaps significantly so) and is a better indicator of the actual workload on the CPU.
thanks for all,,
