universal device poller giving new error of object reference not set

With no recent installs or upgrades for some reason, all of sudden,when I click on various previously utilized custom pollers and try to assign them to various nodes within the universal device poller I get the pop-up error:

object reference not set to an instance of an object?

any ideas?

SolarWinds Orion Core 2010.1.0 SP1, NPM 10.0.0 SP1, NTA 3.6, windows 2003

Perhaps you deleted a node recently and some things in the database haven't caught up yet.

Run a manual database maintenance. For me, doing that normally fixes the error.
